It’s not a crisis, it’s a reset…
If you wake up one day wanting to completely change your life, that’s okay. It’s not a crisis, it’s a moment to reset. LFG!
At some point, or actually at many points in your life; you’re going to wonder if you’re doing enough. If you’re doing the right thing, and if it’s time for a change. Especially with social media bombarding you with content around maximising your time, looking for any way to be efficient, treating life like it’s a Jira project like, damn — it’s hard not to feel both inspired and overwhelmed. Then you take your life and put it under the same microscope to see what you could be doing to take it to the next level. Now it’s all fine, it’s fine to be ambitious and to want more than your day job might be giving you, but at the end of the day don’t forget to do the things that bring you joy. JOY should be the compass, the north star, as the corporate gang would say.
What does this crisis reset look like in practice? Well, you might decide it’s time for a new job because you’re not learning enough, you’re not in an environment where you thrive, or you’re genuinely interested in exploring something new with no backup plan (have a backup plan though, even if it’s a LIGHT one)
Do it for the plot at least!
YOU are the main character in your story so act like it babe.
It might look like wanting to move to a brand new city because you’re TIRED of the taxman (bruhhh), you’re tired of the British weather and politics, or you want to live somewhere else because you never have before! It could look like getting a pet, changing your personal style, letting a new hobby completely consume you, or deciding to start a business just because you want a strong sense of self. It could look like anything and everything, so the real question is: why does it matter to you? When we have guidelines, a set of values or principles that guide us through decisions, it’s much easier to understand why you’re looking for a change and whether this aligns with who you are today and who you want to be. It’s easier to spot those red-flag decisions once you have a clearer idea of what you truly care about and what matters to you to enjoy your life to the fullest.
For me, it’s the ability to be creative, my authentic self, and happy. If any of that starts to waver, that’s when my mind starts triggering thoughts and decisions, making me feel like I need a huge change. Sometimes it can feel like a midlife crisis when in fact it’s just a cheeky reset.
So, sense-check yourself: What matters to you, and have you wavered from that?
If so, it’s time for a reset session...grab the sparkling iced tea and figure out what’s needed to get back to your authentic self. 🩷
